Hyderabad: Telangana State governor Tamilisai Soundararajan felicitated sailors Nethra Kumanan and Vishnu Saravanan, who returned after representing India in the Tokyo Olympics, during the inauguration function of the 35th Hyderabad Sailing Week, at the Hussain Sagar Lake on Friday.
Nethra Kumanan created history by becoming the first woman from India to qualify for the Olympic Games. Nethra competed in the Radial Laser class. Vishnu represented India in the Laser Standard Class.

The Hyderabad Sailing Week, under the aegis of the EME Sailing Association (EMESA) and Laser Class Association of India, will see a large number of potential and professional sailors competing in the championship from across the country.
This National Laser Championship is also a trial for the Asian Games and for the first time Yachting Association of India (YAI) accreditation has been accorded to this event. The Governor complimented the EME Sailing Association for a meticulous conduct of such a grand event and also appreciated the Telangana Sports Association for motivating the youth of the state for such a competitive sport. This shall pave the way for the Sailors to represent the Nation at various National and International Forums and bring laurels for the country in the future.
