Telangana Governor urged to clear BC quota bills
Congress and BRS leaders met Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma to seek approval for the Municipalities and Panchayat Raj amendment bills, which provide 42 per cent reservations for BCs in local body elections. TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud said the bills had unanimous support.

Hyderabad: Congress leaders including BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Panchayat Raj Minister D Anasuya, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, along with BRS MLA KP Vivekanand, along with others, met Governor Jishnu Dev Varma at Raj Bhavan on Sunday, urging him to approve the bills passed in the Assembly.
The government had presented the Municipalities and Panchayat Raj amendment bills in the House, providing for 42 per cent reservations for BCs in local body elections.
Speaking to the media at Raj Bhavan, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud said the bills had the support of all parties in the House. He added that since the bills were passed successfully and reflected the unanimous mood of the Assembly, the Governor should accord his approval.
CPI leader K Narayana was also part of the delegation that met the Governor.
