Khammam: Telangana government has emerged as a model for development and welfare in the country, stated Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar.
He said the schemes like Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak were very beneficial to the people from poor financial backgrounds. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has introduced the scheme to ensure that girls from poor families can get married with less financial burden on their parents.
Ajay Kumar distributed the Kalyana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak cheques for Rs 45 lakh to the beneficiaries at their doorsteps. He, riding a two-wheeler, visited the residences of the beneficiaries in 26 municipal divisions on Monday in the town.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said no other State in the country was implementing schemes like Kalyana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak, which the Telangana government has taken up ambitiously for the benefit of poor girls. He said it was a great thing to carry out various development and welfare programmes under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
Even as the Covid pandemic created a financial crisis, the government has not stalled the implementation of any welfare schemes which shows the Chief Minister’s commitment towards the poor people, Ajay Kumar noted. For the past five years, over 5,000 families have been benefited over Rs 50.46 crore from the schemes across Khammam Assembly constituency.
The Revenue officials were told to ensure that the cheques are given to the newly-wedded beneficiaries within two days of their marriage. Mayor P Neeraja, Khammam TRS party in-charge Gundala Krishna, corporator Karnati Krishna and others were present.
