Hyderabad: TPCC president A Revanth Reddy on Monday alleged that the government cheated Dalits and Girijans in the State in the last seven years and called on party cadre to make the Dalit-Girijan Dandora programme at Gajwel on Friday a grand success. “Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao failed to fulfil the promises made to Dalits. The Dalit-Girijan Dandora in Gajwel is just the beginning,” he said at a high-level party meeting.

Earlier in the day, the Congress MP found fault with the city police for failing to arrest the culprits involved in the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl at Singareni Colony. The incident occurred five days ago but the City Police Commissioner has not even visited the spot, he charged.

Since Union Home Minister Amit Shah would be visiting the State on Friday, the State BJP unit should take up the case with him and ensure justice for the family members, Revanth Reddy demanded. Interestingly, senior party leaders including former TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, his brother and MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, Sangareddy MLA T Jagga Reddy did not turn up for the meeting.
