Telangana: Govt employee tries to kill mother, commits suicide

According to police, Gadwala Anand Reddy (44), who was working as junior assistant in the Irrigation department in Vemulawada, was suffering with health problems for the past some time and also got addicted to liquor recently.

Jagitial: A government employee tried to kill his mother, suffering from paralysis, before committing suicide himself late on Tuesday night at Vani Nagar in Jagitial town. Though he died on the spot, his mother survived.

According to police, Gadwala Anand Reddy (44), who was working as junior assistant in the Irrigation department in Vemulawada, was suffering with health problems for the past some time and also got addicted to liquor recently.

Anand Reddy apparently informed his family members that he was committing suicide and first tried to hang his mother before hanging himself with a saree from the ceiling.

Suspecting the movements of her husband, Anand’s wife Swetha sought the help of neighbours who broke open the door. By then, Anand was dead but his mother survived.

They immediately shifted Vijaya to a local hospital where she is undergoing treatment.
