Hyderabad: A compensation of Rs 10,000 per acre is under active consideration for all the farmers for crop losses suffered due to severe cyclonic storm Montha, according to Agriculture Department officials. They said preliminary estimates indicating the extent of damage in every district were ready with the government.
The Agriculture Department officials will conduct ground-level assessments of crop damage and record details from every affected farmer from October 31. Procurement of rain-soaked paddy would commence to prevent farmers from resorting to distress sales, they added. Preparations are being made to buy 11 lakh tonnes of maize.
