Sangareddy: Keeping up the promise made by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the State government released Rs 364 crore special development fund to eight municipalities and 699 Gram Panchayats in Sangareddy district on Wednesday. During his visit to Narayankhed on February 21, the Chief Minister, who laid the foundation stones for Sangameshwara and Basaveshwara Lift Irrigation Projects, had promised to release Rs 20 lakhs each for the 699 Gram Panchayat besides granting funds to Municipalities.
As per his directions, the government released Rs 50 crore each to Sangareddy and Zaheerabad Municipalities, Rs 25 crore each to Narayankhed, Sadasivpet, Jogipet, IDA Bollaram, Ameenpur and Tellapur Municipalities. While 647 of the 699 panchayats are located in Sangareddy district, the remaining 52 Panchayats, which are part of Andole constituency, are in Medak district.
The MLAs, local bodies’ elected representatives, and others thanked the Chief Minister for releasing the funds immediately. Andole MLA Chanti Kranthi Kiran said they will put the funds to optimum utilisation by improving infrastructure facilities and others in villages and municipalities. The gram panchayats have performed Palabhishekam to the portrait of the Chief Minister across the district. Zaheerabad MLA K Manik Rao, Narayankhed MLA Mahareddy Bhupal Reddy, Municipal Chairpersons and others thanked Chandrashekhar Rao for his swift response.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister T Harisha Rao instructed the elected representatives and officials in Gram Panchayats, Municipalities to chalk out a plan to spend the funds efficiently.
