Suryapet: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Thursday said the State government had suggested farmers to take up cultivation of crops which had demand in the market. The suggestion was meant to avoid hardships to the farmers in the light of decision of Food Corporation of India (FCI) on paddy procurement.
Speaking to the media, he said the agriculture sector faced the worst time during Congress and BJP governments. The TRS government had revived the earlier glory of agriculture in the State and was not sparing any effort to avoid any hardship to the farmers.
Referring to the comments made by Congress leaders on the suggestion of the State government on cultivation of crops, he alleged that earlier Congress governments had never taken any pro-agriculture steps and left the farmers to their fate. The TRS government was committed to the welfare of farmers and hence it was educating them to take up cultivation of crops, which would give them a good price.
Referring to the comments of BJP State president Bandi Sanjay, he asked the BJP leaders to reveal the quantity of the paddy to be purchased by the Union government for Yasangi crop season. He strongly criticised the opposition parties for misguiding the farmers, which would impact their self-confidence.
