Suryapet: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Sunday called upon the people complement the efforts of the State government on ushering in ‘Grama Swarajyam,” the dream of Mahatma Gandhi, in Telangana State.
Speaking after unfurling the national flag at the Independence day celebrations here, Jagadish Reddy said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who successfully completed Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme and Mission Bhagiratha scheme, among others, has now decided to taken up measures for uplift of Dalits and downtrodden section on a mission mode. “Telangana Dalit Bandhu, a brainchild of the Chief Minister, is aimed at achieving economic empowerment of Dalit families in the State,” he said, adding that the scheme was finalised after eliciting the views of intellectuals, MPs and MLAs.
Stating that effective planning and public involvement will play a crucial role in implementation of the scheme, the Minister said Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima and Rythu Vedikas were being implemented only in Telangana State in the country.
Jagadish Reddy also went through the stalls set up by various departments at the venue of the celebrations. District Collector T Vinay Krishna Reddy and Superintendent of Police R Bhaskaran also participated in the celebrations.
