Hyderabad: The Telangana government is planning to issue a family digital card to every family in the State. This was being proposed to extend ration, health and other welfare schemes through a single card.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy held a review meeting with the officials of Health and Civil Services Department here on Monday. Since Rajasthan, Haryana and Karnataka have already issued cards by compiling complete details of the families, the Chief Minister instructed officials to study the implementation, benefits and difficulties associated with them and to prepare a comprehensive report.

He also suggested that under a pilot project, one urban and one rural area should be selected under each Assembly constituency across the State and the action plan for issue of family digital cards should be commenced.

These family digital cards should facilitate the beneficiaries to get welfare schemes, besides obtaining ration and health services anywhere in the State. These cards should have health profile of each family member as it would be useful for medical services in the long run, he said, adding that there should be provision for family members to update the details in the card especially in terms of addition and deletion of members in their families.

District wise systems for monitoring the family digital cards should also be established, he added.
