Telangana govt urged to increase retirement age of varsity teachers
The FUTATS has requested the State government to take immediate steps to fill the posts in the state universities.

Warangal Urban: The Federation of University Teachers Associations of Telangana State (FUTATS) represented by its chairman Dr R Mallikarjuna Reddy along with Executive Council (EC) Member Dr T Shasthree have met with MAUD Minister K T Rama Rao here on Monday and submitted a representation requesting increase in superannuation age of Telangana State University teachers from 60 years to 65 as per the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines.
They said that six states in the country had already implemented the same. Thanking Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for sanctioning the 1061 Assistant Professor posts, the FUTATS has requested the State government to take immediate steps to fill the posts in the state universities. The members of the FUTATS further requested to release the 7 th PRC arrears and also issue of health cards to the varsity employees besides appointing the regular Vice-Chancellors to the varsities.
“Rama Rao responded positively to our requests and said the government would resolve the issues of varsities very soon,” said FUTATS chairman and president of Association of the Kakatiya University Teachers (AKUT), Warangal, Dr R Mallikharjun Reddy. Govt Chief Whip Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar, former MP and Rtd Professor A Seetaram Naik and Dr Sangani Malleshwar were present.
