Mancherial: Police on Sunday arrested a habitual offender for allegedly burgling 13 tolas of gold worth Rs 13 lakh from a newly inaugurated home at Padmavathi Colony in Ramakrishnapur. Gold ornaments weighing 13 tolas were recovered from him.

Bellampalli ACP M Ravi Kumar said the accused, Jadi Suresh of Rajivnagar in Mancherial town, was apprehended while trying to flee during a vehicle check. Suresh had stolen the ornaments from the residence of Mekala Rajaiah on the night of August 8, when the family was asleep.

Police said Suresh had earlier been booked in five criminal cases. CCTV footage played a crucial role in identifying and tracking him. Officials urged the public to install surveillance cameras to aid in crime detection.
