Hyderabad: Former Minister and BRS MLA T Harish Rao condemned the arrest of ASHA workers across Telangana and demanded their immediate release. He questioned whether demanding a wage hike, as promised in the Congress manifesto, had become a crime.
“Deploying hundreds of police personnel, forcing ASHA workers into vehicles, and detaining them – is this the respect women receive in Indiramma Rajyam (Indiramma rule)?” he asked, taking a swipe at the Congress.
Taking to X, Harish Rao charged the Congress with betraying the people with false promises and using coercion to suppress dissent. “In just 15 months, people from all walks of life have realised the Congress’s betrayal. Protests are erupting everywhere, and yet this government responds with illegal arrests and undemocratic rule,” he said.
Pointing out that the government had already presented two budgets, Harish Rao slammed its failure to implement electoral promises. He demanded an immediate salary hike for ASHA workers, warning that BRS would stand by them until the Congress fulfilled its commitments.
