Hyderabad: Amid curiosity over the disqualification petition against BRS turncoat MLA from Khairatabad Danam Nagender, the High Court has reportedly postponed its judgment to Friday.

There was anticipation that the High Court would deliver its judgment on the disqualification petition against the Khairatabad MLA on Wednesday.

BJP Floor Leader Aleti Maheswar Reddy and BRS Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy had filed petitions against his defection in the High Court. As arguments in the case had already been heard, the High Court was expected to deliver its judgment on Wednesday afternoon. However, the court is learnt to have postponed the judgment to Friday.

Danam Nagender has been facing allegations of defecting to the Congress after winning the 2023 Assembly elections from Khairatabad on a BRS ticket. He later contested as a Congress candidate from the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency in the 2024 elections.

Though he lost the Lok Sabha elections, his decision to contest on a Congress ticket drew severe criticism. Subsequently, petitions were filed by the BRS seeking his disqualification.

The Supreme Court, on July 31, 2025, directed Speaker G Prasad Kumar to decide on the disqualification of the MLAs facing defection charges. Accordingly, the Speaker conducted hearings on 10 MLAs.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the Speaker rejected the disqualification petition filed against Danam Nagender. Challenging the Speaker’s decision, Aleti Maheswar Reddy and Padi Kaushik Reddy approached the High Court.
