Telangana HC seeks cops response on Revanth Reddy’s plea on criminal case
Case pertains to allegations that Revanth illegally used a drone to photograph a farmhouse in Janwada, which was allegedly misrepresented as being owned by KT Rama Rao
Hyderabad: Justice K Lakshman of the Telangana High Court on Monday instructed the Narsingi police to provide their response on a petition filed by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy seeking to dismiss a criminal case filed against him.
The case pertains to allegations that Revanth Reddy illegally used a drone to photograph a farmhouse in Janwada, which was allegedly misrepresented as being owned by KT Rama Rao, the BRS party working president. Revanth Reddy filed the petition in 2020.
The court directed the Narsingi police to submit their response by February 20. In 2020, the Narsingi police registered a criminal case against Revanth Reddy and subsequently arrested him. He was produced before a Magistrate, who ordered his remand into judicial custody for 14 days.
Additionally, in a separate quash petition related to charges under the SC/ST Atrocities Act, the High Court on Monday granted relief to Revanth Reddy by excusing his appearance before the lower court.
The court, however, instructed him to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation. One N Peddi Raju and others accused Revanth Reddy and his brother of assaulting, threatening, and using caste-based slurs against them.
The case, involving Revanth Reddy and his brother, A Kondal Reddy, relates to a dispute over a six-acre and 24-gunta piece of land located in Gopanpally in Serilingampally mandal.
As the case was in the trial stage, the judge dispensed with the presence of Revanth Reddy, while directing him to cooperate with the trial.
