Hyderabad: The PIL Bench of the Telangana High Court, comprising acting Chief Justice Sujoy Paul and Justice Renuka Yara, on Tuesday directed the State government to submit a detailed report on the issuance of notifications pertaining to full tank level (FTL) of water bodies under the HMDA limits.

The Bench was dealing with a Suo moto public interest litigation case concerning the issuance of final notification on the water bodies. In November 2024, the HMDA commissioner asserted before the court that a preliminary notification was issued with respect to 2,793 lakes and a final notification was issued with respect to 765 lakes.

The Commissioner further asserted that within 3 months i.e., from November 2024, final notification shall be issued in respect of 2,525 lakes. On taking up the matter, considering the previous assurances given by the State government, the Bench sought a detailed report on the notifications issued while adjourning the matter to February 18.
