Hyderabad: Justice NV Shravan Kumar of the Telangana High Court on Monday directed the State government to submit details of terminated Additional Public Prosecutors (APPs), their remaining service period and a list of newly appointed public prosecutors.
The judge was dealing with a writ plea filed by advocate T Venkateswara Prasad. He claimed he was working as an APP in the Ranga Reddy trial court when he was terminated without prior notice. Eleven other APPs filed similar petitions for being terminated without any notices.
It was brought to the court’s notice that the State government had issued a GO on September 10 effecting the terminations. The petitioners contended that the GO issued by the Home Department without assigning reasons or opportunity for hearing was illegal and sought their reinstatement.
The government advocate, on the other hand, stated that temporarily appointed APPs could be terminated by the government at any time. The judge adjourned the matter to Tuesday for the State government’s response.
