Hyderabad: The State government is all set to launch the prestigious Telangana Health Profile initiative in Mulugu and Rajanna Siricilla districts in the first week of December, Health Minister T Harish Rao said here on Monday.

The Telangana health profile initiative, which will be taken up on an experimental basis in the two districts before expanding to all 33 districts, involves creating a database of vital health care parameters of each individual in the two districts.

On Monday, Health Minister Harish Rao said the Telangana health profile initiative would be a milestone, as it would play a vital role in the overall improvement of the quality of healthcare services in government hospitals. As part of the launch in the first week of December, the Minister has directed senior health officials to ensure no stone is left unturned for the successful implementation of the initiative. A high-level committee consisting of Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare, Vakati Karuna, Director of Public Health Dr G Srinivasa Rao and Officer on Special Duty Dr Gangadhar, has been formed to oversee arrangements for the launch of the initiative in Mulugu and Rajanna Siricilla.

As part of Telangana health profile initiative, vital information of each individual in the two districts including their Aadhar card number, residential address, sugar, blood pressure levels, history of ailments, Non-Communicable Diseases like cancer, kidney ailments etc will be captured digitally. Based on the health and medical history of each individual in the two districts, a risk assessment will be taken up so that high risk individuals can be identified and necessary healthcare services extended to them at the earliest.

The Health Minister, while interacting with senior health officials, said that if need be, individuals from the two districts, who need to undergo tests to ascertain their general health condition, will be able to avail all the 57 diagnostic tests available through TS Diagnostic’s scheme. Once the tests are done, vital medical information of all the individuals will be captured and stored in cloud, which in turn can be accessed by any government healthcare facility in Telangana.

In case such individuals visit any government hospital in Telangana, all their medical records, including medical history and other vital parameters, will be accessible to the healthcare providers through the cloud storage facility, Harish Rao said.

“Creating the health profile through a fool-proof system and then implementing healthcare initiatives across Telangana based on this data is a dream project for Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. After implementing the initiative in Mulugu and Rajanna Siricilla, the project will be expanded across Telangana at the earliest,” he said.

The Telangana health profile will also help ascertain which disease is endemic to a region and eventually give a direction to the State health department to take necessary preventive and clinical measures in that area to combat the diseases. The health profile has the potential to guide the health department to properly utilise its resources, sharpen and make response of to healthcare emergencies more efficient, officials said.
