Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Monday adjourned to Tuesday the hearing of a petition filed by former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and senior BRS leader T Harish Rao challenging the PC Ghose Commission report on the Kaleshwaram project.
The petitioners’ counsel sought urgent hearing and requested the court to issue an interim order restraining the government from taking any action based on the report. However, the High Court, without deciding on interim relief, adjourned the matter to Tuesday.
Harish Rao’s lawyer informed the court that the State government had suddenly announced a CBI probe into the project irregularities after midnight on Sunday. He argued that this was contrary to the earlier assurance given by the Advocate General that any decision would be taken only after discussion in the Assembly.
With the State government’s decision to hand over the matter to the CBI, the counsel pressed for immediate intervention. The court then adjourned the matter to Tuesday for further hearing.
