Hyderabad: Justice B Vijaysen Reddy of the Telangana High Court on Monday granted relief to a final year law student Anand Raj of SVKM’S Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Hyderabad.

By permitting him to appear in the semester exams. Anand Raj a final year law student was suspended by the college from appearing the final semester exam by issuing a communication to him 2 hours prior to the exam on April 28. Anand immediately approached the High Court moving a urgent petition, the same was accepted by Court.

Petitioner Counsel S Goutham stated that the last-minute communication before the exam was a vindictive action by the college. He pointed out, neither the petitioner was put to notice, or any opportunity was given to him to defend his suspension.

On an enquiry about the recent incident referred in the suspension letter, the Counsel responded stating that unfortunate incident of food poisoning occurred at the University wherein some 170 students were immediately affected and complained of stomach pain and nausea.

Of them, 37 students showed aggravated symptoms like vomiting, dehydration and fever and needed hospitalisation as reported in the newspapers.

Justice Reddy hearing the petitioner grievance granted interim orders suspending the letter issued by the college.

On request from the Petitioner counsel to direct the college for reconducting the exam scheduled on April 28 to Anand alone, Justice Reddy wondered if the college had such power and directed the petitioner counsel to serve personal notice on the college through email and whatsapp scheduling the further hearing of case on May 2.
