Telangana High Court directs Hanamkonda Collector to withhold salary of Atmakur tahsildar

The directive was issued in response to a contempt petition filed alleging that the tahsildar failed to disburse ex gratia sanctioned by government

Hyderabad: Justice C V Bhaskar Reddy of the Telangana High Court on Monday issued a stern directive to the Hanamkonda District Collector ordering the withholding of salary and other perks payable to the tahsildar of Atmakur mandal.

This action was taken in response to a contempt petition filed by Lakkarusu Lakshmi, who alleged that the Tahsildar had failed to disburse the ex-gratia amount sanctioned by the government following the suicide of her husband.

The G.O.Rt.No.15, dated 09.01.2025, is to provide financial help to distressed families who have died by suicide in the farming community.

The judge observed that “even after the amount being sanctioned by the government, the Tahsildhar, Atmakur, to cause hardship to the petitioner on one pretext or the other, is not taking steps to withdraw the amount and pay to the petitioner.”

Accordingly, the judge directed to withhold the salary and other perks payable to the tahsildar.
