Hyderabad: Justice K Lakshman of the Telangana High Court on Friday quashed a criminal case filed by Charminar police against BRS working president K Taraka Rama Rao and others.

It is the case of the police that, Rama Rao and party workers had participated in the meeting organised by the MLA contestants of Charminar and Bahadurpura on May 30, 2024, which had no permission and had violated the election code.

It was also alleged that Rama Rao demanded the removal of Charminar and Kakatiya Kala Thoranam from the Telangana State Logo.

He and five other petitioners challenged the chargesheet filed in the case. The petitioner’s counsel argued that the competent officer who passed the order can only file a complaint when such orders are violated.

Further, it was argued that the chargesheet did not reveal any offence against the petitioners. Conceding with the petitioners on the procedural violations in lodging the complaint and lack of any material against the petitioners the judge quashed the criminal case pending before the Nampally court.
