Hyderabad: A two-judge panel of Telangana High Court comprising Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma & Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavali on Tuesday called for a status report on the Omicron spread in the State within three days. Senior Counsel L Ravichander placed before the court multiple photographs of crowding and high density interaction by people during the new year festivity and even thereafter.
He referred to the statement by the chairperson of Apollo Hospital about the possible explosion of the present variant of the virus. The panel was assured by the Advocate General BS Prasad that the Government was monitoring the situation and all steps are being taken. The Chief Justice voiced concern at how even lawyers were not using their masks. In a separate development later in the day, the court issued a notification moving cases to virtual mode and required the registry to take the consent of judges for physical hearing, if any.
Bandi Sanjay moves Telangana High Court
BJP State president and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar moved the Telangana High Court questioning the order of remand by Karimnagar court. Justice K Lakshman granted permission for a lunch motion. However, when the petition came up for hearing, he informed counsel that subjects relating to MLAs and MPs was before the panel of Justice Ujjwal Bhuyan and Justice A Venkateswara Reddy and they would have to move the said court. Informed sources said the panel headed by Justice Ujjwal Bhuyan sits in a physical hearing and mention of the same will be made on Wednesday.
