Hyderabad: With the State government deciding to reopen the schools from September 1 and to curb seasonal diseases, the officials concerned have been instructed to ensure cleaning of all classrooms and premises before August 30 and then, on a regular basis.

Accordingly, the Municipal Administration Department on Tuesday issued guidelines for cleaning of all government educational institutions – schools and Anganwadis etc. As per the circular, all the public toilets also should be cleaned besides bushes in and around the premises should be cleared.

Apart from disinfecting the premises with lime/bleaching powder, officials were instructed to ensure all overhead tanks, sumps and tanks in the premises of the institutions were cleaned besides completing works of drinking water taps, if any.

The officials were asked to take up spraying of disinfectant with freshly prepared 1 per cent Sodium Hypochlorite or phenolic disinfectant at regular intervals. They were also asked to take up anti-fly measures including spraying of Nuvan besides ensuring measures to prevent breeding of flies.

“Anti-larval measures should include cleaning overhead tanks, underground storage tanks, cement tanks, and removal and cleaning of old drums, earthen jars, rainwater harvesting tanks and coolers etc.,” the circular read.

The officials concerned were asked to submit a daily report on the cleaning of all government educational institutions to Regional Directorates of Municipal Administration concerned.
