Telangana Jagruthi organises Bhogi celebrations at KBR Park
The celebrations included traditional customs, with young women and girls happily dancing around the fire, while children were showered with "bhogipallu" as part of the ritual. Delicious treats were shared, and rice along with other essentials were donated to the Haridas. The crowd was captivated by the traditional Gangireddula stunts, and cultural performances further enhanced the festive atmosphere.
Hyderabad: Marking the onset of Sankranthi, Telangana Jagruthi organised vibrant Bhogi celebrations at KBR Park on Monday. Women and children gathered in large numbers to participate in the festivities early in the morning. Telangana Jagruthi founder and BRS MLC K Kavitha led the event, lighting the bonfire and extending festival wishes to the people of Telangana.
The celebrations featured traditional activities, with young women and girls joyfully playing around the fire while children were showered with “bhogipallu” as per tradition and treats were distributed. Rice and other essentials were donated to the Haridas. The traditional Gangireddula stunts captivated the audience, while cultural programmes added to the festive spirit.
Separately, BRS working president KT Rama Rao joined the Bhogi festivities at LB Nagar MLA D Sudhir Reddy’s residence on the city outskirts. Rama Rao extended Sankranthi greetings to the people, wishing prosperity and unity among people.
Several prominent leaders, including MLAs T Harish Rao, D Sudhir Reddy, Padi Kaushik Reddy, Mutha Gopal, Bandari Laxma Reddy, former MLAs Errabelli Dayakar Rao and Balka Suman, and BRS leader P Karthik Reddy, participated in the bonfire ceremony, adding to the celebratory mood.
