Peddapalli: Journalists staged a protest demonstration in front of Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited (RFCL) as the management refused to allow reporters into plant on the occasion of union minister’s visit on Monday. Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers, Bhagwath Khub visited RFCL to examine plant and production activities. However, management denied permission to media to take part in Union Minister’s programme.

Upset over the management’s decision, scribes under the aegis of Godavarikhani press club sat in front of the plant’s main entrance gate before the minister arrived to RFCL and raised slogans against management.

The journalists explained about indifferent attitude of RFCL management to Bhagwath Khub. In order to hide irregularities being taken place in the plant, management was not allowing media into the plant, they explained the minister, who promised the journalists to explain everything after visiting the plant.

Not satisfied with minister’s promise, they continued their protest. However, police cleared the way for minister’s visit by forcefully shifting the agitating scribes.

Disappointed over the incident, local reporters boycotted central minister’s press conference scheduled at 1.30 pm.

It may be recalled that local people led by Ramagundam MLA Korukanti Chander staged dharna at RFCL during the visit of Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers on September 26, 2019 demanding jobs to local unemployed youth. Speaking on the occasion, journalists found fault with RFCL management for not allowing reporters inside the plant. To hide irregularities taking place in the plant, management refused permission for media. It was not proper on the part of management, they alleged.
