Hyderabad: Along with schools, even the junior colleges and Anganwadi centres operating from the school premises would be developed and strengthened as part of the Mana Ooru-Mana Badi programme, Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy said on Saturday.

The Education Minister along with Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Saturday held a video conference with District Collectors on the implementation of the Mana Ooru – Mana Badi programme in the government and local body schools across the State.

Speaking on the occasion, the Ministers said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had introduced Mana Ooru- Mana Badi programme to extend quality education in all government and local body schools on par with the corporate schools.

Under the first phase of the programme, 9,123 out of 26,000 government and local body schools have been identified across the State and developmental works would be executed involving the School Management Committees (SMCs), the Education Minister said.

There would be social audits and inspections by officials on each work executed as part of the Mana Ooru-Mana Badi programme, the Ministers said.

The District Collectors were directed to convene three meetings with district MLAs, MPs, MLCs, ZP chairpersons and SMCs for implementing the programme. They were also directed to ensure each high school was equipped with a library.

The Ministers instructed District Collectors to conduct field level inspections and prepare plans based on the 12 components listed under the programme.
