Telangana junior colleges to reopen on June 1
The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education has released the academic calendar for 2026-27, with junior colleges reopening on June 1. The schedule includes holidays, exam timelines and working days, along with strict instructions for admissions and holiday observance.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TG BIE) has recently released the academic calendar for the academic year 2026-27, with reopening of junior colleges for both first and second-year students scheduled for June 1.
As per the calendar, after commencement of class work on June 1, junior colleges will have a Dasara break from October 10 to 21 and will reopen on October 22. Prior to the short vacation, half-yearly examinations have been scheduled between October 3 and 9.
The Board has given a five-day holiday for the Sankranti festival, with vacation from January 13, 2027, to January 17, 2027, and junior colleges will reopen on January 18, 2027.
Following the holidays, pre-final examinations will be conducted from January 18, 2027, to 23, 2027. The intermediate public practical examinations are scheduled in the last week of January 2027 and theory examinations in the last week of February 2027.
The academic year 2026-27 will have a total of 224 working days and March 27, 2027, is the last working day. Students will have summer vacation from March 28, 2027, to May 30, 2027. The Board will hold intermediate advanced supplementary examinations in the third week of May 2027. The colleges will reopen for the academic year 2027-28 on May 31, 2027.
TG BIE Secretary S Krishna Aditya said admissions should be made only in accordance with the schedule announced by the Board.
In addition to vacation, all Sundays and public holidays declared by the State government should be strictly observed as holidays, he said, adding that any deviation would be viewed seriously.
