Telangana junior doctors demand safety audits in govt hospitals

The Telangana Junior Doctors Association has sought statewide safety audits, timely funding and better protection for healthcare workers in government hospitals. Citing concerns at RIMS Adilabad and MGM Hospital, it also demanded emergency repairs and faster completion of projects.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Junior Doctors Association (TJUDA) on Wednesday demanded comprehensive statewide safety audits, timely funding, and enhanced healthcare-worker protection in government hospitals.

Citing recent developments in RIMS Adilabad and MGM Hospital in Warangal, the T-JUDA highlighted long-standing maintenance issues, including need for a comprehensive audit covering structural, electrical, and fire safety, as well as medical-gas systems and sanitation across government medical colleges, teaching hospitals, district hospitals, PHCs, and critical care units.

The junior doctors demanded emergency repairs to be taken up at MGM Hospital and urged the State government to complete Warangal Super Speciality Hospital on a war footing within a one-month timeline.

“The State government must expedite the new Osmania General Hospital project alongside pending government hospital construction works across the state, resolving any administrative or financial bottlenecks. There is a need for safe hostel infrastructure, residential quarters, boundary walls, lighting, and CCTV surveillance for doctors and healthcare workers deployed in remote and peripheral areas,” JUDA said.

TJUDA requested the immediate release of pending Aarogyasri and Hospital Development Society (HDS) funds, alongside the full translation of Medical College Monitoring Committee (MCMC) inspection reports into actionable, time-bound corrections.
