Hyderabad: BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy launched a sharp attack on the Congress government, accusing Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of deceiving the people of Telangana with empty promises and unjust distribution of Indiramma houses. He said the Congress government had failed Huzurabad voters by allocating a meagre 800 houses for the entire constituency, despite the Chief Minister himself admitting that over 40,000 people were eligible.
Speaking at a media conference at Telangana Bhavan on Thursday, Kaushik Reddy stated that out of 106 villages in Huzurabad, only five received houses, while the rest were left empty-handed. He warned people against blindly trusting the proceeding documents issued without proper official signatures, cautioning that once they build houses, Revanth Reddy will not provide any financial aid.
He also slammed the Congress for its lack of clarity in allocating houses to landless families, questioning the fate of over 9,188 eligible persons, of whom only 4,597 received support under the Indiramma Atmeeya Bharosa scheme.
Further attacking the Congress, the Huzurabad MLA compared the Rythu Bandhu scheme under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s tenure and the current government’s Rythu Bharosa. He claimed that while Chandrashekhar Rao government provided assistance for 1.6 crore acres, the Congress promised 1.5 crore acres, reducing it by only 1.8 per cent, yet falsely alleging massive corruption under BRS.
“While in opposition, Revanth Reddy had falsely claimed that about Rs 2,000 crore released under Rythu Bandhu were being misused, which would be rectified after the Congress comes to power. But now, his claims have been proved wrong,” he added.
Citing an online poll conducted by Sunil Kanugolu on the Congress’s official Twitter handle, Kaushik Reddy pointed out that 86 per cent of respondents favoured K Chandrashekhar Rao’s government, with over 92,000 people participating. Calling it a slap in the face for Congress, he warned that the ruling party was resorting to lies to influence the upcoming local body elections, urging voters to stay alert.
