Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi President and BRS MLC K. Kavitha has launched Singareni Jagruthi, a new platform affiliated with Telangana Jagruthi. Singareni Jagruthi is aimed at protecting the interests of Singareni workers and safeguarding the future of the public sector coal company.

“Resolving workers’ issues will remain the core objective of Singareni Jagruthi,” she said, reaffirming the commitment of the BRS to the working class.

At a meeting with Singareni workers and Telangana Jagruthi leaders here on Tuesday, Kavitha announced the appointment of area-wise coordinators and vowed to intensify efforts to resolve pressing issues in education, healthcare, and workers’ rights. Singareni Jagruthi will work alongside TBGKS (Telangana Boggu Gani Karmika Sangham, affiliated with BRS) and push for key demands, including CBSE syllabus in Singareni schools, free corporate healthcare for workers’ families, upgraded labour colonies, and reconstruction of decades-old housing quarters.

Demanding a halt to the private operation of SDL vehicles in open-cast mines, she announced plans to engage youth and the public through special outreach initiatives.

Reminding that during the BRS rule, dependent jobs were restored and Singareni was protected, Kavitha said the Congress government, mired in corruption, was driving Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) towards decline.

The Congress government was conspiring to weaken SCCL through large-scale corruption and eventually privatize it, which would be strongly resisted, she said.

She cited the escalation of the Jaipur Power Plant’s second phase cost from Rs. 5000 crore to Rs. 9,000 crore and inflated explosive tenders as glaring examples of corruption. “Never in the 130-year history of Singareni have we seen such irregularities,” she charged.

Questioning Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s silence on anti-labour policies to please Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kavitha warned of mass protests if dependent job appointments and alias cases remained unresolved. She assured the creation of a dedicated women’s wing and regular visits to coal belt areas.
