Telangana: Khammam court sentences man to 20-year jail in POCSO case

Khammam: FTC-II Khammam judge K Umadevi on Friday sentenced a 30-year-old man, Mangodi Papa Rao, to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 in a POCSO case.
The accused, a resident of Kothuru, sexually assaulted a 7-year-old girl on August 13, 2023. The same day, Sathupally police registered a case under the POCSO Act after the girl’s parents filed a complaint and a charge sheet was filed in the court.
The judge, who examined the case file, evidence and medical report, pronounced the verdict after finding the accused guilty. Additional prosecutor Mohammad Irsad argued on behalf of the prosecution.
Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt appreciated the investigating officers, the then ACP Ramanujam, current ACP Raghu, Inspector, Bharosa legal officer M Uma Rani, court constable M Ravi Kumar, court liaison officer, Srikanth for ensuring conviction in the case.
