Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Monday criticised the Congress party over its hypocrisy on the rising monopoly of the Adani Group. He was reacting to Congress MP Jairam Ramesh‘s remarks, criticising Adani’s aggressive expansion in the cement sector across the country and its undue advantage arising out of access to political power.

Taking to X, Rama Rao questioned the Congress’ stance, pointing out Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy‘s support for establishment of the Adani-Ambuja cement plant in Ramannapet of Nalgonda district, despite significant local opposition.

Criticising the Congress’ selective attack on the Adani Group, the BRS working president pointed out that the Chief Minister accepted a Rs 100 crore donation a few days before the public hearing for the cement plant and hoped no one was watching.

He questioned why the Rahul Gandhi-Adani nexus was acceptable, but not the Modi-Adani nexus. “So ‘Modani’ is not okay, but ‘RaDani’ is acceptable?” he questioned.

Recently, Jairam Ramesh raised doubts over Adani Group’s aggressive expansion in the cement sector, from the acquisition of Ambuja Cements and ACC to the recent purchase of Orient Cement, and noted that upcoming deals could give Adani a dominant market share. He argued that unchecked monopolisation was harming India’s economic growth, worsening unemployment, and contributing to inflation.
