Telangana: Land acquisition notification issued for elevated corridor from Paradise to Dairy Farm road

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had laid the foundation for the structure at Kandlakoya on March 9 this year. Of the 5.3 km structure, 4.6 km will be elevated and 0.6 km would be a tunnel.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad District Collector has issued notifications for acquiring 62,152 square yards (12.84 acres) for construction of an elevated corridor from Paradise junction to Dairy Farm road on NH 44. These lands are being acquired in Bholakpur, Thokatta, Sitarampuram and Bowenpally villages under Tirumalagiri mandal.

Meanwhile, posing serious challenges to the authorities, several structures, including religious structures, graveyards, educational institutes, residential apartments and others exist on the land that has to be acquired for the project. Open land of the Osmania PG College Arts and Science measuring 294.81 yards, a Muslim graveyard measuring 4475.50 yards, another graveyard measuring 3954.40 yards, 1968.10 yards of police quarters and the ZPHS, Bowenpally, a portion of the post office, cricket ground, SCB Computer training institute and several residential apartments and commercial properties are to be acquired for the project.


To this effect, six notifications have been issued in an English daily on Sunday. The elevated corridor from Paradise junction to Military Dairy Farm road via Tadbund and Bowenpally junctions on National Highway 44 covers 5.3 km. The structure would be constructed at a cost of Rs.1,580 crore. On the same elevated corridor, a Metro Rail line would be constructed in the future making it a double-decker corridor.Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had laid the foundation for the structure at Kandlakoya on March 9 this year. Of the 5.3 km structure, 4.6 km will be elevated and 0.6 km would be a tunnel. The six-lane corridor will have 131 pillars. To ensure smooth flow of traffic, two ramps will also be constructed on either side of the structure near Bowenpally junction. This apart, one more elevated corridor is being planned from Paradise junction to Shamirpet at ORR junction (SH-01) covering 18.12 km. It is being planned with a cost of Rs.3,619 crore.

Since the last few years, the State government has been appealing to the Defence Ministry to allocate land for the projects. Apart from submitting representations, former MAUD Minister KT Rama Rao had personally met the union Ministers a few times and urged them to allot lands for the projects. On January 5, the Chief Minister had met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and had urged him to allocate the defense lands, besides permitting construction of elevated corridors. The Defence Ministry issued orders allotting the lands on March 1.

– Total corridor length: 5.3 km

– Elevated portion: 4.6 km

– Underground tunnel: 0.6 km

– Piers: 131

– Total land required: 73.16 acres

– Defense lands: 55.85 acres

– Private lands: 8.41 acres

– Land for tunnel: 8.90 acres
