Sangareddy: While a notification for conducting the panchayat and municipal elections is expected shortly in Telangana, the Congress cadre in Patancheru are confused as three key leaders are leading three separate factions in the constituency.
The differences between MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy, party constituency in-charge Kata Srinivas Goud and another key leader Neelam Madhu, who contested the Parliament elections in a losing cause in 2024, have left the cadre puzzled as they have no clue whom to meet to get an opportunity to contest in the elections.
When Srinivas Goud’s followers attacked Mahipal Reddy’s camp office in Patancheru in January, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud had constituted a two-member committee to resolve the issues between these two leaders. The two-member committee, comprising party whip Adhi Srinivas and TPCC vice-president MRG Vinod Reddy, had heard the versions of both Mahipal Reddy and Srinivas Goud. However, they are yet to give any verdict on the issue so far.
The committee, which sought just two days to submit a report on the entire episode, has shown no intention of resolving it so far even one week after they concluded their meetings with Patancheru leaders.
Speaking to Telangana Today, a key Congress leader from Jinnaram said they had no clue about whom to meet to get a chance to contest as Sarpanch or MPTC or ZPTC in the coming elections. Aspiring candidates in six municipalities in the constituency are also trying to get into the good books of all three leaders.
