Telangana logs 2,047 new Covid infections, 1,174 in GHMC on Sunday

Hyderabad: The Covid-19 incidence in Telangana remained high on Sunday with a total of 2,047 positive cases and three deaths reported in the State.
The urban centres continued to remain high on the list of Covid cases as GHMC areas with 1,174 cases accounted for more than half of the total case load in the State. According to a bulletin issued by the health department, the city areas were followed by Medchal-Malkajgiri district with 178 cases and Ranga Reddy district with 140 cases.
The other districts that reported higher number of Covid positive cases included Hanamkonda (69), Sangareddy (50), Mancherial (42), Khammam (40), Nizamabad (38) and Mahabubnagar (37).
The health department had carried out tests for 55,883 samples on Sunday and results for 9,829 samples were awaited. Meanwhile, 2,013 persons who earlier tested positive for Covid-19 have recovered and the recovery rate in the State stood at 96.31 per cent.
Meanwhile, the Covid vaccination drive on Sunday covered 1,53,699 eligible persons.
