Hyderabad: The daily surge in new Covid-19 infections in Telangana driven by the Omicron variant has continued with health authorities on Thursday reporting 2,707 positive cases including 1,328 from areas under GHMC.
Two fatalities related to Covid-19 were also reported on Thursday, which has taken the overall number of deaths in TS to 4,049.
The active Covid-19 positive infections in the State, as on Thursday have surged to 20,462 out of which close to 16,000 are from GHMC areas.
The Omicron variant is also registering a significant increase in other urban centres of Telangana with authorities reporting 248 positive infections in Medchal-Malkajgiri and 202 cases in Rangareddy district.
The authorities on Thursday conducted 84,280 Covid tests of which results of 10,026 samples were awaited. A total of 582 individuals have recovered with a recovery rate of 96.51 per cent.
So far, a total of 3,04,52,039 Covid-19 tests have been conducted in the State out of which 7,02,801 have tested positive and 6,78,290 persons have recovered.
