Decry official apathy in allocating a burial ground for Muslims
Siddipet: Villagers displaced under Mallanna Sagar, living in a Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) colony near Gajwel, carried the body of a woman to the RDO office in Gajwel to protest official apathy in allocating a burial ground for Muslims.
Muslims of Erravally in Kondapak mandal were displaced when Mallanna Sagar was built. Though they were shifted to the colony long ago, the officials failed to allot a piece of land for burial ground.
After moving around offices multiple times, the community decided to stage protest to highlight the official apathy. As a woman of the community passed away on Friday, they took the body to the RDO office and staged a protest.
Later, they presented a representation to Chandrashekhar, administrative officer at RDO office. Gajwel Mosque committee chairman Matheen helped them perform the woman’s funeral at Gajwel dargah. However, the officials have made no concrete assurance to the displaced people.
