Nirmal: A Nirmal court sentenced a man to 10 year rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 in a murder case on Tuesday.
The District VII Additional Court Judge Harisha pronounced the verdict after finding Vadekar Devender guilty of murdering a fellow villager. She cross-examined 14 witnesses produced by defense counsel before the court. Devender is a resident of Chata village in Kubheer mandal.
He smashed the head of Vadaker Kishan (46) from the same village resulting in severe injuries over some petty issue and under the influence of liquor in May of 2018. Kishan died while undergoing treatment.
Based on a complaint lodged by Vinayak, the victim’s brother, a case was registered. Investigations were taken by the then Inspector K Praveen Kumar, who produced the witnesses and gathered relevant documents establishing the involvement of Devender in the crime.
