Gadwal: A 40-year-old woman of Chinna Tandrapadu village of Ieja mandal died after being hit by a stick on the head by her son-in-law Dastagiri, on Sunday night.
According to Shanthinagar Circle Inspector Venkateshwarlu, the woman, Telugu Salamma had a daughter and three sons. Four years back, Salamma’s daughter Vani got married to Dastagiri, a native of Kurnool district, as per her family’s wishes.
Vani was blessed with a daughter and a son. But for the past one year, Vani was being harassed by Dastagiri for various reasons. Last week, Salamma went to Kurnool and got her daughter Vani and grandchildren back to Chinna Tandrapadu village.
However, Dastagiri went to Tandrapadu to bring back his children, and while he was leaving with them, Salamma obstructed him. He hit her on the head with a stick resulting in her death, the Inspector informed.
Based on a complaint lodged by Salamma’s husband Ramulu, a case has been registered and investigation are on.
