Telangana may experience respite from severe heat in the form of thunderstorms till May 7

Hyderabad: People in Hyderabad and districts can expect respite from intense heat wave-like conditions for the next five days. The Hyderabad MET department on Friday in its forecast has indicated widespread thundershowers along with gusty winds in 29 districts of Telangana State till Wednesday, May 7.

The weather department issued an orange alert of severe thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds of 40 to 50 kmph on Saturday for several districts such as Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda and Jangaon.


On the same day, a yellow alert for moderate thundershowers has been issued to districts including Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvangiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajigiri, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal.

From Saturday onwards, based on the IMD-Hyderabad forecast, maximum temperatures in Hyderabad and its surrounding districts including Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri will range between 36 degree Celsius and 40 degree Celsius. Till Friday, multiple areas across Hyderabad had recorded maximum temperatures that ranged between 40 degree Celsius and 42 degree Celsius.

While temperatures at a few locations will range between 41 degree Celsius and 44 degree Celsius, the trend of thunderstorms and gusty winds, however, will continue till next week Wednesday, the MET department said.

The districts that are likely to receive thunderstorms till May 7 are Adilabad, Kumarambheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvangiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajigiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal.
