SP Uday Kumar Reddy being given a grand farewell in Medak on Saturday.
Medak: Medak Police extended a grand sendoff to Superintendent of Police D Uday Kumar Reddy, who retired from service on Saturday, by organising a felicitation event in Medak. Reddy, who joined the service as a sub-inspector of police in 1989, rose in ranks to become an IPS officer in 2021.
Since he worked mostly in naxal-affected Adilabad district, he got acceleratory promotions early in his career and became an IPS officer after 30 years of service in 2021. He was appointed as Adilabad SP in 2021 where he started his career as probationary SI in 1991.
Reddy, a native of Ramachandrapuram in Nelakondapally mandal of Khammam district, played a vital role in tackling naxalism in Adilabad and communal violence. He was appointed as Medak SP in July 2024.
The police officers of Medak pulled his car tied with ropes as an honour to his service. They also recalled his bond with his subordinates. IG Chandrashekhar Reddy, Medak MP M Raghunandan Rao, MLA M Rohith were among those who felicitated him.
