Telangana minister escapes unhurt in lift collapse incident at Karimnagar private hospital
SC, ST Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar escaped unhurt after a lift collapsed in a private hospital in Karimnagar. The minister, trapped briefly inside, later warned of action against the hospital management over negligence.
Karimnagar: SC, ST welfare minister Adluri Laxman Kumar escaped unhurt in a lift collapse incident in a private hospital here on Wednesday night. The minister had gone to a hospital in Karimnagar town to call on Rajaiah, a maize farmer from Gollapalli, who is undergoing treatment in the hospital.
After speaking to the farmer, he boarded the lift on the first floor to come down to the ground floor. However, the lift suddenly collapsed to the ground and the minister got stuck. Hospital staff rushed to the spot and rescued the minister by opening the lift gate. Laxman Kumar escaped from the incident without any injuries.
Reacting seriously to the incident, the minister came down heavily on the hospital management for not providing minimum facilities despite collecting huge amounts from patients.
Stating that a complaint has already been lodged locally through his PA, the minister said action would be taken against the hospital.
