Siddipet: Terming Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan as a backdoor Chief Minister, Telangana Ministers on Saturday gave an earful to the BJP senior leader for belittling K Chandrashekhar Rao as just ‘two-term’ Chief Minister. They dared him for an open debate on development during four-time Chief Minister Chouhan’s tenure in Madhya Pradesh and Chandrashekhar Rao’s two terms in Telangana.
Leading the attack was Finance and Health Minister T Harish Rao who said the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister had no moral right to criticise the Telangana Chief Minister who kept the State ahead of MP on all fronts within seven years. Speaking to mediapersons in Siddipet, he said Madhya Pradesh, which is much bigger than Telangana in terms of area, was lagging behind in development in all sectors under the leadership of four-time Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. “He became a Chief Minister by luring the Opposition MLAs into BJP, after people of Madhya Pradesh rejected him. He is not eligible to point fingers at our Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao,” he said.
Countering the comments of Chouhan, who criticised Telangana government and the Chief Minister during Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh meeting held in Hyderabad on Friday, Harish Rao said Telangana had better GSDP (Gross State Domestic Product) of Rs 9.78 lakh crore when compared to the GSDP of Rs 9.77 lakh crore of Madhya Pradesh despite the latter having a much bigger area and population compared to Telangana. He reminded that the performance indicators of Telangana which was formed just seven years ago were far ahead of Madhya Pradesh which is being ruled by Chouhan since 2005.
“The per capita income of Telangana is double that of Madhya Pradesh. The Telangana government is providing free uninterrupted power, Rythu Bandhu, tapped drinking water to every household and several others which are still a distant dream for the people of MP. But your government has the history of shooting down six farmers who staged protests demanding farm loan waiver in 2017,” he pointed out.
The Finance Minister asserted that GO 317 was issued in strict adherence to the Presidential Orders to provide 95 per cent jobs to locals. By demanding to repeal the GO, he said the BJP leaders were not only opposing the Presidential Orders but were also denying government jobs to local youth. On terming Kaleshwaram project as ATM for Chandrashekhar Rao, he pointed out that the BJP government at the Centre had given a clean chit to such allegations in the Parliament. He wondered about the fate of the Vyapam scam where Chouhan along with his family members and his government faced corruption charges.
Criticising Chouhan for corruption remark, he said the union government had informed the Lok Sabha responding to a question by TPCC president A Revanth Reddy that there were no irregularities in Kaleshwaram project. He said the BIP government could not solve the Vyapam scam, and added that Chouhan, his government and family members were facing a lot of corruption allegations against them.
