Telangana MLC polls: 799 booths to be set up across three districts

As part of election campaign, door-to-door campaign should be held with not more than five people, while permission will be given to only five vehicles for road shows, informed Returning officer

Hyderabad: As part of making arrangements for the upcoming Graduate MLC elections in Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Mahabubnagar districts, a total of 799 polling booths will be established in the three districts, said Priyanka Ala, Returning Officer and GHMC Additional Commissioner.

In a meeting on the conduct of MLC elections with representatives of various political parties including TRS, BJP, Congress and MIM, here on Wednesday, Priyanka said that candidates can file their nominations until February 23. “Due to Covid-19, only two persons will be allowed with candidates while filing nomination papers,” she said.

Priyanaka said that only two vehicles will be allowed during nominations. As part of election campaign, door-to-door campaign should be held with not more than five people, while permission will be given to only five vehicles for road shows, she said.

“It is mandatory to take permission for rallies and public meetings. Permission is required from media certification and monitoring committee for giving publicity in print and electronic media,” she said.

Priyanka pointed out that there is no restrictions on election expenditure, however, candidates have to submit the details of expenditure on election to returning officer.

She clarified that the only details of candidate’s name, photo and party will be mentioned in the ballot papers. Postal ballots will be handed over the old age persons above 80 years, persons with special needs and Covid-19 patients, Priyanka added.
