Karimnagar: In order to supply uninterrupted power by instantly resolving the problems developed in power supply, Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (NPDCL) has come up with an innovative idea to set up an Emergency Response Team (ERT).

Three ERT teams including two for Karimnagar and one for Huzurabad divisions have been allocated. A vehicle has been allocated to each team.

NPDCL has already made available toll free number 1912 to receive complaints from consumers about interruptions in power supply, burning of transformers, variations in power bills, request for new transformers and new electricity lines.

It is taking much time to solve the problem since the complaint has to pass through the main officer to the section office to field level staff. The field level staff again has to depend on higher officials to arrange vehicles to shift burnt transformers. As a result, solving the problem has been delayed.

To solve the problem instantly by avoiding all these hurdles, electric department officials launched ERT teams which will include either a lineman and two junior linemen or a junior lineman, a ALM and lineman.

Electricity department source said that if there was any problem developed in a particular area, the team of the particular division would rush to the spot and solve the problem instantly.

In the summer season, a number of problems would develop in lines as well as transformers, So, the establishment of ERT teams would help the electricity department.
