Hyderabad: The student community that lives in rural areas is facing immense pressure and stress arising from academic challenges to social expectations. Here is where mental health apps play an essential role in maintaining well-being.
A Telangana NRI has developed a mental health app that provides accessible, affordable and effective support for students dealing with various mental health challenges. Mupparapu Naresh, a native of Madhira in Khammam district and working in South Africa, said the app was designed to support both government and private school students in improving their mental health and well-being.
He told ‘Telangana Today’ that the app aims at addressing the growing mental health challenges in rural areas. For students who may feel hesitant to seek traditional therapy due to stigma or logistical issues, mental health apps provide a private and immediate solution, he added.
Naresh said the mental health app offers a level of anonymity that can encourage students to open-up about their struggles without fear of judgment. The app can access certified mental health professionals with confidential chat and video counselling sessions. He further explained that it has features such as self-help and personality development modules to boost confidence and emotional resilience and career guidance, teacher and parent training modules to help educators and family support students etc.
Naresh recently met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to brief about the app’s benefits to government school students. He is seeking an appointment with Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy also.
