Karimnagar: National Service Scheme volunteers from Satavahana University participated in the clean India programme held in the university sports ground here on Monday.
About 100 volunteers of NSS unit-I, II&III participated in the programme taken up according to the instructions given by the regional directorate of NSS, Hyderabad.
Inaugurating the programme, University Vice-Chancellor S Mallesham explained about the motto behind NSS and tried to educate the students about the clean India programme, which was launched by the union government.
Every student should have enthusiasm for social service right from the student life, he said and hoped that the programme would help the students to enrich social, economic, cultural and ethical values. He appreciated NSS volunteers’ efforts to clean the ground.
Later, students and staff of the university cleaned the sports ground by removing the bushes, weeds and single use plastic goods.
Registrar Dr M Vara Prasad, OSD to VC Dr V Ramesh, NSS Coordinator Dr K Srivani, programme officers Dr Vijay Prakash, and Dr Vijay Kumar and other officials of university and principles participated in the programme.
