Telangana: Panchayat Secretary held in Mancherial for taking Rs 20,000 bribe
A Panchayat Secretary in Karnamamidi village, Telangana, was caught by ACB while accepting a Rs 20,000 bribe to clear a housing scheme bill. The official, Akkala Venkataswamy, was trapped after a complaint and will face charges in Karimnagar ACB court
Mancherial: Sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested a Panchayat Secretary while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a beneficiary of the Indiramma housing scheme at Karnamamidi village in Dandepalli mandal.
ACB officials said the accused, Akkala Venkataswamy, had demanded the bribe for clearing a bill of Rs 1.50 lakh under the scheme. The beneficiary lodged a complaint with the ACB, which then laid a trap and caught him red-handed.
A case has been registered against Venkataswamy, who will be produced before the special ACB court in Karimnagar.
