Karimnagar: Peddapalli BRS district president and former MLA Korukanti Chander has warned to observe a fast-unto-death protest in the river Godavari if the State government failed to store water in the river.

Referring to Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy’s statement in the Legislative Council that the Kaleshwaram project was safe, he questioned as to why the government was not storing water in the project if it was safe.

Why was the government not utilizing Godavari water while standing crops were withering, he asked, stating that it was with the ulterior motive of blaming BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao that the Congress government was not storing the water in the project.

Speaking to the media here during his 180 km padayatra to Erravelli from Godavarikhani with the slogan of ‘Godavari Gosa’, Chander said the Congress had projected Medigadda barrage as a major issue only to win the election. After coming to power, the government was deliberately not storing the water in the project to blame Chandrashekhar Rao, he said.
